Although I made this one a while ago, I had never displayed it… I don’t think.
During a session of two children, I began photographing just the baby of the pair, and while I did that the older brother proceeded to slip into what apparently was one of his favorite hiding places. When I spotted him, I tried quickly to set up and capture the scene. Harsh direct sunlight was coming in through a nearby window and I tried to work with it, but it is a bit more contrasty than I prefer.
Tech info:
Handheld FujiS2, 50mm f1.8, set to f1.8 at 1/90th sec., ISO 800, B/W Mode, Fine JPG. I had to compromise the exposure since the boy inside of the credenza needed a much different exposure than the detailed work on the outside of the furniture.

What I love most about it is this picture really shows what it can sometimes be like to be a sibling to new babies. Sad and sometimes on your own.

Eddie – really captivating image. It makes you pause and take it all in. I love that you were aware of what was going on around you despite the chaos that a sibling session usually has and jumped at the chance to capture something amazing like this.
Eddie, I too really love your work. I try and learn as much from your images as I can. I also read your comments about the shoot and the answers you give to your loyal readers. However, there is one thing that has given me great pause. And that is, why do you shoot JPG Fine when the rest of the would is shooting RAW? Additionally, what is your workflow like? I would really appreciate hearing from you about this. Thanking you in advance for your help.
